JAKARTA - Istiqlal Mosque ensures that the distribution of sacrificial meat on Eid al-Adha 2026 is not done directly to the public. Distribution of sacrificial meat will be carried out through institutions, foundations, pesantren, to RT/RW managers who have been verified.

Minister of Religion (Menag) Nasaruddin Umar said the system was implemented to avoid mass gatherings in the Istiqlal Mosque area.

"Here there is no individual division of animals," said Nasaruddin, Thursday, May 28.

Meanwhile, the Chairman of the Iduladha Committee of the Istiqlal Mosque, Mas'ud Halimin, explained that the process of slaughtering and distributing sacrificial animals was targeted to be completed in one day. The committee has also arranged the distribution schedule using a shift system so that the distribution process runs orderly and smoothly.

According to Mas'ud, the recipients of sacrificial meat are parties who have previously submitted proposals and passed the verification process from the Istiqlal Mosque committee. After being verified, the recipients are required to re-register before taking the sacrificial animals.

"So those who come to Istiqlal are those who accept the verified proposal, register, and then take their sacrificial animals," said Mas'ud.

Mas'ud ensured that residents around the Istiqlal Mosque still get a share of the sacrificial meat. However, the distribution is carried out through the local neighborhood managers so that it is more organized.

"Not individuals, through the respective RT/RW area managers. So we distribute and ensure that the residents around Istiqlal are not neglected by the existing sacrificial animals," said Mas'ud.

He added that the distribution of sacrificial meat at the Istiqlal Mosque not only reaches the Jabodetabek area, but also a number of other areas through a network of pesantren, foundations, and universities.
