JAKARTA - The Bali Regional Police (Polda) revealed the chronology of the death of a foreign citizen (WNA) from Germany who was allegedly electrocuted in the Sanur area, Denpasar, Bali.

Kasubbid Penmas Humas Polda Bali AKBP Rina Isriana Dewi said the victim was known as Patrick Paffrath (53), a German citizen who lives at Jalan Kutat Lestari Gang Pelanggi Number 14, Sanur Kauh Village, South Denpasar District.

The incident occurred at around 18.00 WITApada Monday (25/5).

"It is suspected that the victim died due to electric shock due to a short circuit in the water heater," said Rina as reported by ANTARA, Tuesday, May 26.

He explained that based on the testimony of the witness, who is also the victim's wife YP, before the incident, the victim and the witness both took a bath in a different bathroom at around 17.40 WITA.

"After finishing the bath, the witness was suspicious because the victim had not come out of the bathroom. When checked, the victim was found in a position like prostration and did not move," said Rina.

The witness then asked for help from the surrounding residents.

When residents helped lift the victim's body from the bathroom to the bed, one of the residents admitted that he had been electrocuted when holding the shower hose in the bathroom.

Another witness, Yohanes Mamude, also admitted that he felt an electric shock from the hose when he was about to evacuate the victim.

Officers from the South Denpasar Police arrived at the scene and immediately carried out the scene of the crime and installed a police line.

The victim was then taken to Bali Mandara Hospital using the Denpasar City BPBD ambulance, but was declared dead by the hospital's medical team.

From the results of the initial examination of the Denpasar Police Identification Team, no signs of violence were found on the victim's body.

However, a burn was found on the victim's back and traces of skin were found on the shower hose.

Currently, the police are still conducting further investigations by examining witnesses and completing the administrative investigation.
