TULUNGAGUNG - The demand for cow salon services in Tulungagung Regency, East Java, has increased up to two times during the two weeks leading up to Iduladha 1447 H.
One of the providers of cow salon services, Riyan (33), a resident of Kauman District, said on Sunday that the service had been carried out for eight years with his family.
The services offered include cleaning and smoking nails and cow horns, so that the appearance of livestock is more attractive to prospective buyers.
"If someone orders, the cow will be cleaned, especially the nails and horns so that it looks more neat and attractive," said Riyan.
According to him, cow care services have become a routine activity at the Tulungagung Livestock Market (PHT), especially during market days and before Eid al-Adha when demand for livestock increases.
The treatment process is carried out using simple equipment such as saws, chisels, hammers, and small cutting tools.
For nail and horn treatment, the average processing time is about one hour per cow.
In one day, Riyan and his family can handle up to five cows.
Service fees are pegged starting at Rp50 thousand per head for nail care, while horn care costs extra.
From this service, the revenue obtained can reach more than IDR 300 thousand per day when demand is high.
"If the complete treatment includes horns, the daily income can be more than Rp300 thousand," he said.
