KPK Immediately Sends Former KPU Commissioner Wahyu Setiawan, Who Received Bribes From Harun Masiku To Prison

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) will immediately execute former General Elections Commission (KPU) Commissioner Wahyu Setiawan and former Election Supervisory Body (Bawaslu) member Agustiani Tio Fridelina. This was done after the excerpt of the cassation decision against the two was received by the public prosecutor (JPU) of the anti-corruption commission.

"The public prosecutor's team has received the notification of the official cassation decision of Defendant Wahyu Setiawan and Defendant Agustiani Tio Fredelina and their criminal execution will soon be carried out," Acting KPK Spokesperson for Enforcement Affairs Ali Fikri told reporters quoted on Wednesday, June 9.

In the cassation decision against Wahyu, it was stated that the bribe recipient from the former PDI-P candidate Harun Masiku was sentenced to 7 years in prison and a fine of Rp. 200 million. If the fine is not paid, it can be replaced with a prison sentence of six months.

In addition, he also received an additional penalty in the form of revocation of political rights in holding public office for 5 years. The additional punishment is calculated after serving the main sentence.

"Regarding the decision of the panel of judges at the MA level, of course the KPK respects it," said Ali.

According to him, although the Supreme Court rejected the cassation submitted by the KPK prosecutor, the request for revocation of political rights for Wahyu Setiawan had been considered and decided according to the request from the prosecutor team in the memorandum of cassation that had been submitted to the MA

So this decision further strengthens the alleged actions of the suspect Harun Masiku in the process of giving bribes. "And the KPK remains optimistic that it can find HM tsk so that it can immediately be brought to the front of the corruption trial process," he said.

It was previously reported that Wahyu Setiawan and Agustiani were found guilty of accepting bribes of 19,000 Singapore dollars and 38,350 Singapore dollars from Saeful Bahri. The bribe was intended so that the former KPU commissioner could approve Harun Masiku as in the process of interim replacement (PAW) for members of the Indonesian House of Representatives.

While Wahyu and Agustiani will soon be executed in prison, so far the KPK has not found Harun Masiku, who has been on the wanted list (DPO) since January 2020. The anti-corruption commission has conducted internal search efforts and recently sent a letter requesting the issuance of a red notice to the National Central Bureau (NCB) of Interpol Indonesia.
