JAKARTA - PT MRT Jakarta (Perseroda) ensures that the Transjakarta fleet remains a priority during the implementation of the traffic engineering (lalin) of the MRT Jakarta Phase 2A CP202 project in the Harmoni area, Central Jakarta.
"At the Harmoni intersection, vehicles that will go to the city, especially Transjakarta buses, will be directed to Hayam Wuruk Street through the contraflow lane," said Corporate Secretary Division Head of PT MRT Jakarta Ahmad Pratomo as reported by ANTARA, Tuesday, May 19.
He said the traffic arrangement which started on May 25 until September 27, 2026, still provides special access for the Transjakarta fleet towards the city.
The contraflow lane, he said, was only implemented on one lane during construction work.
The system allows vehicles to use part of the lane from the opposite direction which is temporarily diverted to facilitate traffic flow. The implementation of the contra flow system is carried out on toll roads or main roads that experience a surge in vehicle volume.
Meanwhile, private vehicles from Jalan Majapahit, Jalan Suryopranoto, and Jalan Ir. H. Juanda to the city will be diverted through Jalan Gajah Mada.
According to MRT Jakarta, the traffic engineering was carried out to support the construction work of the Harmoni Station which includes excavation work, station construction, canal underpass, and entrance.
MRT Jakarta ensures that the Hayam Wuruk Road section to Monas does not undergo changes during the work.
Together with the contractor, Shimizu-Adhi Karya Joint Venture (SAJV), MRT Jakarta has also prepared traffic signs, road markings, and public street lighting to maintain the safety of road users.
MRT Jakarta also appeals to the public to pay attention to traffic signs and follow the instructions of officers in the field during the engineering period.
The Jakarta MRT Phase 2 construction project stretches along about 11.8 kilometers from the Bundaran HI area to Ancol Barat. Phase 2 continues the north-south corridor of Phase 1 which has been operating since 2019, namely from Lebak Bulus to Bundaran HI.
With the presence of Phase 2, the total length of the north-south line will be around 27.8 kilometers, with a total travel time from Lebak Bulushingga City Station to around 45 minutes.
