JAKARTA - DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung has ensured that the implementation of the Motor Vehicle Free Day (HBKB) or Car Free Day (CFD) in the Jalan HR Rasuna Said area, South Jakarta, will be effective starting June 1, 2026.

The policy was carried out after all supporting facilities in the area were completed by the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government.

"Regarding Car Free Day, indeed, both in Sudirman-Thamrin and in Rasuna Said, we will effectively start on June 1," said Pramono after inaugurating the Tian Fu Gong temple area in PIK, North Jakarta, Sunday.

Especially for the Rasuna Said area, he said, the DKI Provincial Government is still completing a number of supporting facilities so that the public can enjoy the area comfortably and safely during the CFD implementation.

According to him, currently the work on pedestrian facilities, area arrangement, to planting trees is still being carried out. The DKI Provincial Government wants to ensure that all supporting facilities are really ready before the area is opened for CFD activities.

"Specifically for Car Free Day in Rasuna Said, why is it June 1 because hopefully all facilities will be completed, pedestrians, then planting trees and so on will be completed," explained Pramono.

He also revealed that there was a difference in the operating hours of CFD between the Sudirman-Thamrin and Rasuna Said areas.

If in the main corridor of Sudirman-Thamrin, CFD activities take place from 05.30 WIB to 10.00 WIB, then in Rasuna Said the implementation time is shorter, namely until 09.00 WIB.

The time limit was carried out by considering the activities of the community around the Rasuna Said area, especially the presence of a number of places of worship which began to be used in the morning.

"Rasuna Said starts from 05.30 to 09.00 WIB because there will be several places for worship which will start at 10.00 in the morning," said Pramono.

The policy to expand CFD to the Rasuna Said area is part of the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government's efforts to present a healthier public space, pedestrian-friendly, and encourage people to reduce the use of motor vehicles on weekends.

In addition to being a sports and recreation space for residents, the existence of CFD is also expected to improve the quality of the capital's air and support the arrangement of a greener and more comfortable urban area.

The DKI Provincial Government targets that the arrangement of pedestrian lanes and greening in the Rasuna Said area can give a new face to one of Jakarta's main business centers.

The area is expected to not only become a center of office activities, but also a more humanistic public interaction space for residents of the capital.
