JAKARTA - Iranian Foreign Minister (Menlu) Abbas Araghchi said he had "received a message" from the United States (US) to continue negotiations.
Araghchi said Iran was willing to continue talks and was open to support, including from China.
"We received another message from America saying that they are willing to continue talks and continue interactions," Araghchi told reporters after attending a meeting of the BRICS bloc of countries in New Delhi, Friday, May 15, quoted by AFP.
Araghchi spoke a day after US President Donald Trump said Chinese President Xi Jinping offered help to reopen the Strait of Hormuz.
Xi said Trump also promised not to send military equipment to help Iran in its war against the US and Israel.
"We appreciate any country that has the ability to help, especially China," Araghchi said.
"We have very good relations with China, we are strategic partners with each other, and we know that China has good intentions, so whatever they can do to help diplomacy will be welcomed by the Islamic Republic," he added.
In the first round of US-Iran negotiations, Pakistan has been the main mediator. Since then, Pakistan has been intensively mediating the peace negotiation process.
"The mediation process by Pakistan has not failed, but is on a very difficult path, especially because of the American behavior and the mistrust that exists between us," Araghchi said.
