JAKARTA - The Nagan Raya Regency Government, Aceh Province, has confirmed that as many as six elementary schools (SD) and middle schools (SMP) in Tadu Raya District, the local regency, as of Friday (8/5) afternoon are still paralyzed, due to the impact of the flood that hit this area on Thursday (7/5).

"For the time being, six schools located in the flood disaster area cannot continue their learning activities, because cleaning is still being carried out by teachers and employees," said the Head of the Education Office of Nagan Raya Regency, Aceh Zulkiflidi Nagan Raya, Friday, May 8, reported by ANTARA.

The six schools that are currently unable to carry out learning activities are SMPN 7 Kuala Tadu Raya District, SDN Alue Bata Tadu Raya District, SDN Tarong Ijo Tadu Raya District, SDN Tadu Ateuh Tadu Raya District, SDN Gunong Geulugo Tadu Raya District, and SDN Pante Cermen, Seunagan District.

Zulkifli said that most of the elementary and junior high schools in Nagan Raya that could not carry out learning activities were on average submerged in water with a water height ranging from 30 to 80 centimeters.

As a result, most of the study rooms were flooded and left mud inside the room, so they had to be cleaned by each school.

Zulkifli explained that his party took the policy of dismissing students as an anticipatory measure considering that the school conditions were still submerged in mud, so there was a risk of endangering the students.

His party continues to monitor developments in the field and coordinates with the respective school principals.
