JAKARTA - The Narcotics Crime Directorate (Dittipidnarkoba) of the Criminal Investigation Unit of the National Police is investigating allegations of money laundering (TPPU) in the network of drug trafficker Erwin Iskandar alias Koko Erwin.
The investigation was to examine the former Bima City Police Chief Didik Putra Kuncoro, the former Head of the Narcotics Unit of the Bima Police, Malaungi, and the treasurer of the Koko Erwin Ais Setiawati network coordinator.
"The examination was carried out to investigate the alleged flow of funds and assets derived from the results of narcotics crimes. Investigators are also tracing the possibility of parties who also enjoy or help disguise the results of the crime," said Director of Narcotics Crime (Dirtipidnarkoba) of the Criminal Investigation Unit of the National Police, Brig. Gen. Pol. Eko Hadi Santoso, quoted by Antara, Friday, May 8.
In the investigation process, said Eko, investigators also analyzed financial transactions, document examination, and the seizure of a number of electronic evidence related to the case.
"This step is the commitment of the National Police in breaking the chain of narcotics circulation, including stopping the flow of funds from crime that are used to support the activities of the network," he said.
Currently, he said, investigators are still investigating the relationship between the parties with Koko Erwin's network and tracing assets suspected of originating from the results of drug crimes.
It is known that the three were named as suspects in the alleged TPPU with the crime of drug abuse.
Didik Putra Kuncoro was previously named a suspect in a case of alleged drug trafficking in Bima City, NTB. He is suspected of receiving a "security money" of Rp. 1 billion from suspect Koko Erwin as a drug dealer.
Meanwhile, Malaungi, who was Didik's subordinate at the Bima City Police, received money from the suspect Abdul Hamid alias Boy amounting to IDR 1.8 billion as a form of attention money. Then, Malaungi gave the money to Didik.
Previously, the Criminal Investigation Unit of the National Police also named three suspects of money laundering (TPPU) related to the illegal circulation of drugs carried out by Koko Erwin, namely VVP as Koko Erwin's wife and two of Koko Erwin's children with the initials HSI and CA.
