JAKARTA - Iran has introduced a new mechanism for ships crossing the Strait of Hormuz by requiring permission from local authorities, according to a report by Press TV, which was reported by Antara, Tuesday.

Ships that want to pass will receive an email from the Persian Gulf Strait Authority (PGSA) containing transit rules, before applying for official permission.

After that, the ship must obtain PGSA approval to be able to pass through the strategic route.

Iran's rebuttal

Previously, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) confirmed that all civilian and commercial ship movements in the Strait of Hormuz must follow the established route.

The IRGC added that the movement must also be coordinated with the Iranian government.

Previously, Iran denied carrying out an attack on the United Arab Emirates. Iran did not carry out a missile or drone operation against the United Arab Emirates (UAE), said spokesman for the Iranian Khatam Al-Anbiya Central Command, Ebrahim Zolfaghari.

"The Iranian armed forces have not carried out any missile or drone operations in recent days," Zolfaghari was quoted as saying by Iran's state television station, IRIB, Tuesday (5/5).

"If we were doing it, we would have announced it," he said, adding.

He said his party denied the claims of the UAE Ministry of Defense regarding the alleged Iranian attack.

Zolfaghari added that Iran would respond harshly if there were any actions against the country carried out from the UAE territory.
