JAKARTA - The joint team of the Padang District Attorney's Office (Kejari), West Sumatra (Sumbar) executed one convicted illegal mining case on Tuesday, May 5.

Head of the Intelligence Section of the Padang District Attorney's Office, Eriyanto, explained that the executed convict was male on behalf of Bogi Restu Ilahi.

"Today's convicts were executed and immediately taken to the Padang Detention Center (State Prison) to serve their sentences," he said in Padang, Wednesday, May 6, quoted by Antara.

He explained that the basis for the execution was the cassation decision of the Supreme Court of the Republic of Indonesia (MA) which stated that the convict was legally and convincingly guilty.

The Supreme Court sentenced the convict to two years in prison, as well as a fine of Rp50 million, which was subject to five months in prison.

"In addition to executing the convicts, the Padang District Attorney's Office has also seized one unit of an excavator to be confiscated as per the Supreme Court's decision," he said.

The execution was carried out by the Public Prosecutor (JPU) who handled the case, namely Hafiz Zainal Putra, and Irawati, while the convicts were directly accompanied by legal advisors.
