Consistently Down to the Region, Gibran is Considered to Strengthen the Quality of Policies

JAKARTA - Senior Political Analyst Boni Hargens appreciates the steps of Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka, who is considered to be consistent in going directly to the field. He assessed that this approach reflects the leader's concern for the real conditions of the community as well as being an important strategy in formulating targeted policies.

According to Boni, the direct presence in the community allows Gibran to capture problems that often escape bureaucratic reports. Interaction with residents is also considered to provide space for public aspirations to be conveyed more fully.

"By being present in the midst of the community, Vice President Gibran can hear the aspirations, complaints, and hopes of the people. This is an important basis for more targeted policies," said Boni in his statement, Thursday, April 30.

He assessed that the consistency of field visits carried out by Gibran was not just an image, but a real form of commitment in carrying out government duties. This work pattern, said Boni, also gradually builds public confidence.

Boni also emphasized the importance of direct dialogue between leaders and the public as the foundation of a healthy democracy. The presence of the vice president in the region is considered not only to convey government programs, but also to absorb more objective feedback.

"For people in the region, the presence of the Vice President is a signal that the central government is present and pays attention to them. Many problems that were not previously visible can finally be identified and followed up," he said.

In addition, Boni appreciated Gibran's encouragement for digital downstreaming which was considered in line with the big agenda of national development. He called this step a visionary strategy to strengthen the technology-based economy and innovation.

According to him, Indonesia has great potential in the digital economy, so the development of technology ecosystems, artificial intelligence, and national data infrastructure is the key to increasing global competitiveness.

In the context of government, Boni considers Gibran's role very strategic in supporting President Prabowo Subianto in realizing the vision of Asta Cita. He called Gibran an active element that is able to reach young and dynamic segments of the community.

Boni sees a synergy between Prabowo's firm leadership and Gibran's more progressive approach. The combination is considered an important capital in facing the challenges of future development.

He also quoted the results of a survey by the Indonesian Electoral Institute (LPI) in 2025 which showed that the majority of respondents were optimistic about Gibran's contribution to the government.

"This reflects the fairly strong level of public confidence in the Vice President's performance, as well as being a social capital for the sustainability of government programs," he said.

Boni added that Gibran's role will be increasingly important in accelerating the transition to Indonesia Emas 2045. He assessed that the presence of young figures at the national leadership level brings a new perspective that is needed in the transformation process.

"The combination of President Prabowo's experience and Gibran's young energy creates a balance between firmness and innovation. This is important to answer global challenges while accelerating national transformation," said Boni.
