Police in Soroti Say There is No Official Gate at the Ampera Crossing

JAKARTA - Korlantas Polri highlighted the absence of official gates at the Ampera railway crossing, which is suspected to be the initial location of a series of accidents that led to the collision of the KRL and Argo Bromo Anggrek train in East Bekasi on Monday night, April 27, 2026.

The Deputy Head of the Traffic Police, Sandhi Wiedyanoe, said the crossing only had a self-made swing gate made by the surrounding community.

"At this crossing, there is no railway gate like we see there. The gate was made by the community on its own," said Sandhi, Tuesday, April 28, 2026.

According to him, the existence of a drawbridge at a number of crossing points is very important to support the safety of road users and train travel.

Therefore, his party will coordinate with PT KAI regarding the evaluation of safety facilities at the location.

"This means that in some places the railway gates are really crucial in nature," he concluded.
