Lebanese Hezbollah Gives 5 Conditions to Israel If It Wants Peace Negotiations

JAKARTA - Hezbollah opened the possibility of holding direct negotiations with Israel. However, as many as five conditions must be met by Israel first.

Israel with the support of the United States (US) began on September 23, 2024, launched an air strike on Lebanon, killing 558 people, including 50 children and 94 women.

In early March 2026, Israel expanded its ground operations and annexed parts of southern Lebanon under the pretext of turning it into a buffer zone to protect against attacks.

"Stopping the ground, sea, and air aggression, Israel's withdrawal from the occupied territories, the release of prisoners, the return of people to all their villages and cities, and reconstruction," said Hezbollah Secretary-General (SG) Naim Qassem on Monday, April 27, quoted by Al Jazeera.

On the same occasion, Qassem described the Israeli forces currently at a dead end to fully conquer Lebanon.

He also supported the Lebanese government led by President Joseph Aoun to hold internal dialogue rather than pursuing an agreement with Israel.

The Lebanese government's bilateral steps against Israel, which resulted in a 10-day ceasefire agreement since April 16, have in fact been violated.

"The enemy has reached a dead end, this resistance is continuous, strong, and unbreakable," he said.

BBC reported that Israel had again violated the ceasefire with the Lebanese Government. Israeli forces on Monday, April 27, launched an attack on the city of Arnoun, killing 14 civilians, 2 of whom were children and 2 others were women. Meanwhile, 37 other Lebanese were injured.
