Impact of the Collision in Bekasi, the Operation of the Gambir-Pasarsenen Long-Distance Train is Suspended

JAKARTA - PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) temporarily stopped all long-distance train (KAJJ) journeys from Gambir and Pasarsenen Stations following a train collision incident at East Bekasi Station, Monday, April 27 evening.

This policy was taken to support the handling process at the location and ensure passenger safety.

For today's departure, Tuesday, April 28, several trains that were canceled include the Gunungjati Train (Cirebon-Gambir), the Purwojaya Train (Cilacap-Gambir), the 56F-53F and 58F-59F Train, the Madiun Jaya Train (Madiun-Pasarsenen), and the Argo Sindoro Train (Semarang Tawang-Gambir).

KAI Vice President of Corporate Communication Anne Purba said the suspension of operations was carried out as a risk mitigation measure.

"All long-distance train journeys departing from Gambir and Pasarsenen Stations have been temporarily suspended to support the handling process and ensure the safety of travel," Anne said as quoted by Antara.

KAI previously apologized to customers for the incident. "We apologize for this incident," he said.

Based on initial information, the incident occurred when the Commuter Line stopped on track 1 direction Cikarang. Not long after, a long-distance train from the west entered the same track and hit the train.
