JAKARTA - The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) on Sunday announced that it had facilitated the transfer of 15 Palestinian prisoners released from the Gaza Strip, helping to move them from the Karm Abu Salem Crossing to the Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital.

In a statement, the ICRC said it was also helping to reconnect the released prisoners with their families, quoted from WAFA (27/4).

The organization further noted that they have not been able to access prisoners held in Israeli detention facilities since October 2023, underlining the need to be informed of the fate and whereabouts of all prisoners and granted access to them.

The International Committee of the Red Cross also emphasized that, under international humanitarian law, prisoners must be treated humanely, provided with adequate detention conditions, and allowed to communicate with their families.

The ICRC added that many Palestinian families anxiously awaited news of their detained loved ones, expressing concern for their health and safety.

It added that the ICRC also continues to engage in dialogue with the Israeli authorities to resume visits to all Palestinian prisoners.
