JAKARTA - Sumber Sari Village, Mukomuko Regency, Bengkulu Province, has suddenly become famous in the last two weeks because the number of COVID-19 cases has increased dramatically.

The development of COVID-19 in Mukomuko Regency, on May 23, 2021, increased by 37 people, bringing the total to 783 people. Of the addition of 37 COVID-19 patients in the area, 21 residents came from the Sumber Makmur Village area, Air Dikit District.

Then on May 29, 2021, the number of COVID-19 cases again increased by 48 people, bringing the total to 838 people. Of the additional 48 COVID-19 cases in the area, 26 of them came from Sumber Sari Village, which is 270 kilometers north of Bengkulu City.

Of the dozens of residents of Sumber Sari Village, Air Dikit Sub-district, most of them work as employees at PT Agro Muko, an oil palm plantation company in this area.

Air sub-district head Dikit Sapriadi together with the district to village COVID-19 Handling Task Force including the company have made various efforts to prevent additional COVID-19 cases in this region, one of which is quarantining this area.

"If possible, places of worship, churches and mosques, will be temporarily closed and supervise residents who have been exposed to the COVID-19 Task Force, village officials and BPD and religious leaders," he said as quoted by Antara.

Village task force officers look after local residents who are positive for COVID-19 while undergoing self-isolation for 14 days and monitoring the health conditions of COVID-19 patients in this region.

Then the village task force must always increase vigilance and collect data, especially on migrant residents to prevent the entry of the corona virus into this area.

Furthermore, he really hopes that residents will be disciplined in complying with health protocols because diseases can be controlled with the cohesiveness and cooperation of various parties.

"Those who are exposed to the corona virus are asked to be self-aware and the public also refrains from complying with health protocols, making this event a shock therapy for local residents in particular and Mukomuko Regency in general.

The government of Sumber Sari Village, Air Dikit Sub-district has provided assistance with various basic materials needed by as many as 45 positive COVID-19 patients who underwent self-isolation at their homes for 14 days.

"The Sumber Sari Village Government uses eight percent of the village funds for handling COVID-19 to buy various basic commodities, such as rice and instant noodles needed by COVID-19 patients who are self-isolating at home," said Air Sub-District Head Dikit Sapriadi.

The local village government is ready to increase the assistance needed by dozens of COVID-19 patients in their area who have not recovered for the next 10 days.

The Mukomuko District Police previously coordinated with the Health Office to find solutions to prevent additional COVID-19 cases in the area.

The Mukomuko District Police are coordinating with the Health Office after a spike in COVID-19 cases, especially in two villages in this area, from five active cases to 43 cases.

"There are two areas that we discussed for attention, namely Sumber Sari Village, Air Dikit District and Dersa Pauh Terenja," said Mukomuko District Police Chief Adjunct Senior Commissioner Andy Arisandi.

In these two regions, there was a spike in COVID-19 cases, which previously had five active COVID-19 cases, suddenly jumped to 43 cases.

"The increase is extraordinary, and we are discussing this problem and finding a solution together with the local Health Office, how do we make efforts to prevent the 43 COVID-19 cases in this region from becoming additional COVID-19 cases," he said

Then his party together with the COVID-19 Handling Task Force from the district to sub-district and village levels will investigate the contact history of COVID-19 patients in these two areas.
