TANJUNG SELOR - The escape of Muhammad Ikhwan, SE alias MI (44), a fugitive in the alleged corruption case of the tourism application project in North Kalimantan (Kaltara), finally ended.

After about three months on the Missing Persons List (DPO), the suspect was successfully arrested by a joint team of the Prosecutor's Office in South Sulawesi (South Sulawesi) and arrived at Tanjung Selor immediately detained by investigators, Thursday, April 23.

Head of the North Kalimantan High Prosecutor's Office (Kejati) Yudi Indra Gunawan said that the suspect MI (44) was previously secured by the joint team of the North Kalimantan Regional Prosecutor's Office (Tabur) with the Attorney General's Office (Kejagung) with the support of the South Sulawesi Regional Prosecutor's Office (Sulsel) in Makassar on Wednesday (22/4/2026) at around 12.00 WITA.

"MI is a private party that is implementing the project to create the Tourism Information System Application (ASITA). He has been named a suspect since February 10, 2026 by the special criminal investigation team of the North Sumatra Regional Prosecutor's Office along with two other suspects, namely SMDN, the former Acting Head of the North Sumatra Tourism Service, and SF as the Chairman of the North Sumatra ASITA DPD, who was previously detained," said Kajati Yudi.

He explained, since the determination of the suspect, MI has never met the call of the investigators until finally being included in the Kaltara Regional Attorney's Person Search List (DPO).

"After intensive tracking, the whereabouts of the suspect were detected in South Sulawesi and immediately secured without resistance," said Yudi.

Yudi said, upon arrival in Tanjung Selor on Thursday at around 17.00 WITA, the suspect underwent an examination by investigators. Furthermore, at around 19.00 WITA, MI was taken to the Polresta Bulungan Detention House to undergo detention.

"We express our appreciation to all parties involved in the arrest of this fugitive, and there is a safe place for fugitives," he said.

Yudi also appealed to the public not to hesitate to provide information regarding the whereabouts of perpetrators of criminal acts who are included in the DPO.

"Regarding this case, investigators ensure that the legal process against the suspects will continue until the trial stage," he said.
