DENPASAR - A joint SAR team evacuated two Foreign Nationals (WNA) who were trapped on the cliff of Uluwatu area, Pecatu Village, South Kuta District, Badung Regency, Bali, using a helicopter.

The evacuation involved personnel from the Denpasar Police, Basarnas Bali, and the SGI Benoa helicopter team.

Head of the Public Relations Section of the Denpasar Police, Iptu I Gede Adi Saputra Jaya, said the incident occurred at around 13.30 Wita on the Uluwatu cliff with coordinates 8°48'03.8"S - 115°07'01.7"E.

The two victims, with initials DZ (21), a Russian woman, and SS (52), a man from the United States.

He explained that the initial report was received from the El Kabron Bali Beach Club who received a phone call from an unknown person who claimed to be trapped on the cliff and asked for help.

"The reporter got a phone number from a billboard around the cliff location, then the beach club contacted the police," he said, quoted by ANTARA, Thursday, April 23.

The information was forwarded to the South Kuta Police and the Denpasar Police Satpolairud, before finally coordinating with the Bali SAR Office.

The Basarnas team with eight personnel then moved to the scene to carry out the rescue effort. However, the steep and difficult-to-reach cliff field made the ground evacuation process impossible, so the team decided to use a helicopter.

The SGI Benoa helicopter arrived at the location and immediately carried out an evacuation using the hoisting method. Both victims were successfully lifted from the cliff location and flown to the SGI Benoa heliport in a safe condition.

"The evacuation process went smoothly and the two victims were rescued alive," he said.

In the operation, the elements involved include personnel from the South Kuta Police, Satpolairud Polresta Denpasar, Basarnas Denpasar, and the SGI Benoa team.

The equipment used includes one rescue vehicle, one helicopter, as well as communication equipment and other supporting SAR equipment.

"Currently, both victims are still undergoing medical treatment and cannot be questioned because they are traumatized," said Adi.

The police have also coordinated with the victim's lodging to ensure the continued condition and the necessary handling.
