JAKARTA - The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government has set a special tariff of Rp. 1 for all public transportation services on April 24, 2026. This policy is valid for 24 hours, from 00.00 to 23.59 WIB.

This program is implemented in commemoration of Kartini Day on April 21 and National Transportation Day on April 24. The cheap fares include Transjakarta, MRT Jakarta, and LRT Jakarta services managed by DKI BUMD.

The Governor of DKI Jakarta, Pramono Anung, called this policy an effort to encourage people to switch from private vehicles to public transportation.

"We give this so that the public will get used to using public transportation," said Pramono in his statement, Thursday, April 23.

However, not all services have changed rates. Microtrans services, Transjakarta Cares, and community groups that have enjoyed a Rp0 tariff continue to follow the provisions of DKI Jakarta Governor's Regulation Number 160 of 2016.

On the other hand, the trend of using public transportation in Jakarta shows an increase. Throughout the first quarter of 2026, the number of passengers of Transjakarta, MRT Jakarta, and LRT Jakarta was recorded at 112.1 million people.

This figure increased by 7.99 percent compared to the same period last year which reached 103.8 million passengers. This increase is driven by various factors, ranging from the addition of routes and fleets, the improvement of facilities, to the integration and digitization of payment systems.

The DKI Provincial Government also continues to intensify the campaign to use public transportation as part of the urban mobility solution.

"Switching to public transportation helps reduce congestion and air pollution. In addition, it is more cost-effective, time-saving, and labor-saving, as well as encouraging a healthy lifestyle," said Pramono.
