As Many As 706 Thousand Open Jobs, Results of Investment of Rp498.8 Trillion in the First Quarter of 2026

Jakarta - The Investment and Industrialization Ministry/Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) recorded investment realization in the first quarter of 2026 at Rp498.8 trillion, an increase of 7.2 percent year on year (yoy) compared to the first quarter of 2025.

Quarterly (quarter on quarter/qoq) compared to the fourth quarter of 2025, the realization of investment increased by 0.4 percent. Minister of Investment and Industrialization/Head of BKPM, Rosan Perkasa Roeslani, revealed that the realization of investment in the first quarter of 2026 absorbed 706,569 people. Job creation grew 18.9 percent year-on-year.

This was conveyed by Rosian in a press conference in Jakarta, Thursday, April 23. The realization of investment from Foreign Investment (FDI) and Domestic Investment (DDI) in the first three months in 2026 is almost balanced, namely FDI of Rp. 250.0 trillion or 50.1 percent and DDI Rp. 248.8 trillion or 49.9 percent.

Both grew by 8.5 percent and 6.0 percent year-on-year. In addition, the realization of investment outside Java is more than in Java, in Java and Outside Java is also quite balanced, namely 251.3 trillion or 50.4 percent outside Java and Rp. 247.5 trillion or 49.6 percent in Java. Each rose 7.9 percent and 6.5 percent year-on-year.

The basic metal industry, metal goods, non-machinery and equipment contributed the largest share of investment in January-March 2026 with a realization of IDR 69.4 trillion.

Followed by other service subsectors of Rp. 64.2 trillion; mining Rp. 51.9 trillion; housing, industrial areas and offices Rp. 48.0 trillion; transportation, warehouses, and telecommunications Rp. 45.4 trillion.

Of the total investment realization of Rp. 498.8 trillion in the first quarter of 2026, as much as Rp. 147.5 trillion or 29.6 percent of which came from the downstream sector.
