JAKARTA - The Attorney General's Office (Kejagung) continues to develop the investigation of the alleged corruption case in nickel mining governance in Southeast Sulawesi in the period 2013-2025. To date, more than 15 witnesses have been examined in the case that ensnared the Chairman of the Indonesian Ombudsman for the period 2026-2031, Hery Susanto.
Head of the Legal Information Center of the Attorney General's Office, Anang Supriatna, said that the examination of witnesses was still ongoing to strengthen the evidence.
"The examination has more than 15 witnesses," Anang said in Jakarta, Wednesday, April 22.
He explained that the witnesses examined were from the Ombudsman's internal and external. Investigators are also continuing to collect evidence, including documents related to the case.
"Currently, it is still in the process of investigation, examination of witnesses and collection of other evidence," he said.
This case began with a problem faced by PT TSHI related to the calculation of non-tax state revenues (PNBP) by the Ministry of Forestry. In the process, the company allegedly tried to influence policy through the Ombudsman by involving Hery Susanto.
The Ombudsman is said to have issued a recommendation that allowed PT TSHI to calculate its own payment obligations. Investigators suspect there was an intervention in the issuance of the recommendation.
In addition, Hery is also suspected of receiving funds from the Director of PT TSHI with the initials LKM. For his actions, he was charged with Article 12 letters a and b and Article 5 of Law Number 20 of 2001 concerning Eradication of Corruption Crimes.
Currently, Hery has been detained for 20 days at the Salemba Detention House of the South Jakarta District Attorney's Office.
The Attorney General's Office emphasized that the investigation would continue to be developed to uncover other parties suspected of being involved in the case.
