BOGOR - The Bogor City Government (Pemkot) is accelerating the development of waste processing facilities into Electric Energy (PSEL) as a solution for sustainable waste management. This step is marked by the signing of a Cooperation Agreement (PKS) for the construction of the Bogor Raya PSEL which is located in Galuga.

In addition, the Bogor City Government also targets the signing of the PKS for PSEL in Kayumanis within about seven weeks.

Bogor Mayor Dedie A. Rachim called this project a big leap in the transformation of the waste management system in the City of Bogor, from a conventional pattern to an energy-based utilization.

"Insyaallah we will have two PSEL. This is an opportunity to manage waste from upstream to downstream in a more modern and sustainable way," said Dedie while leading a leadership meeting at the Dhanagun Monastery, Wednesday, April 22.

Until now, Dedie said, waste management is still dominated by the collect-transport-dispose pattern which risks causing environmental impacts such as pollution and land quality degradation.

Through PSEL, waste will be processed into electrical energy so as to provide added value while reducing the burden on landfills.

For PSEL Galuga, the processing capacity is projected to reach around 1,500 tons per day, with an allocation of Bogor City waste of around 500 tons. Meanwhile, PSEL Kayumanis is planned to have a capacity of around 1,000 tons per day with a similar allocation.

Dedie emphasized that the construction of the two facilities requires the full support of all levels of the Bogor City Government, including accelerating the readiness of supporting infrastructure.

He targeted that access to the construction site could be prepared by May 2026 at the latest to ensure the project runs according to schedule.

"This is a shared responsibility as part of the development relay that we must continue," said Dedie.
