Prices increased by 18 percent, the DKI Provincial Government ensures that non-subsidized LPG stock remains safe.

JAKARTA - The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government ensures that the availability of non-subsidized LPG in sizes of 5.5 kg and 12 kg remains safe after the price adjustment which has been in effect since April 18, 2026. Even though the price has increased, distribution in the field is said to still run normally.

Head of the DKI Jakarta Office of Industry, Trade, Cooperatives, Small and Medium Enterprises (PPKUKM) Elisabeth Ratu Rante Allo said that 12 kg LPG is a non-subsidized product whose price follows global market conditions.

"LPG 12 kg has increased by Rp36,000 or about 18.75 percent, from Rp192,000 to Rp228,000 per cylinder. Meanwhile, LPG 5.5 kg has increased by Rp17,000 or about 18.89 percent, from Rp90,000 to Rp107,000 per cylinder," said Ratu, Wednesday, April 22.

Ratu explained that the price increase was triggered by a number of external factors, ranging from the increase in the world LPG contract price (CP Aramco), the increase in the Indonesian Crude Price (ICP), to the geopolitical situation in the Middle East which affects the energy distribution route.

However, he ensured that the stock of non-subsidized LPG in Jakarta was still in a stable condition. The DKI Provincial Government is said to continue to coordinate with PT Pertamina Patra Niaga and Hiswana Migas to maintain the smooth distribution.

"Based on field monitoring, the stock of 5.5 kg and 12 kg LPG is currently stable at the agent and base level. Distribution is running normally to all depots and distributors in five administrative city areas and the Thousand Islands Regency. We urge the public not to panic buy," said Ratu.

The DKI Provincial Government also anticipates the potential for a shift in users of non-subsidized LPG to subsidized LPG 3 kg due to the price difference. Supervision is tightened, especially in the non-SMMEs business sector such as restaurants, cafes, and hotels.

"We will coordinate with Pertamina, Hiswana Migas, and other related stakeholders to monitor the use of LPG in the non-SMM business sector such as restaurants, cafes, and hotels. In addition, we appeal to ASN and the community to be able to continue to use non-subsidized LPG," he explained.

In addition, supervision of the distribution of subsidized LPG 3 kg is also carried out to ensure that the quota remains on target. The government emphasizes that the purchase of LPG 3 kg must still use official identities.

"According to the applicable regulations, the purchase of 3 kg LPG at official bases must use a KTP that has been registered in the Pertamina Merchant Apps (MAP) system. Each transaction is recorded in the system as part of the control of subsidized LPG distribution to be targeted," he said.

Regarding the impact on inflation, the DKI Provincial Government assessed that the increase in non-subsidized LPG would not have a significant impact as long as the price and availability of subsidized LPG remained maintained.

"As long as the 3 kg subsidized LPG is still available and the price does not change, the basic needs of the community can be better maintained. The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government will continue to monitor this development through the Regional Inflation Control Team (TPID)," concluded Ratu.
