JAKARTA - The personnel of the Cartenz 2026 Peace Operation Task Force of the National Police have paralyzed members of the Armed Criminal Group (KKB) with the status of wanted person (DPO) with the initials O.E. alias M.E. in Wuyukwi Village, Puncak Jaya Regency, Central Papua.

Head of Public Relations and Peace Operations Cartenz 2026 Kombes Yusuf Sutejo said the perpetrator was paralyzed when he was to be secured on Monday (20/4) at around 16.15 WIT.

"The action was taken after the personnel carried out monitoring and managed to identify the target's whereabouts. When he was about to be secured, the person concerned tried to escape by fighting the officers, so that a firm and measured action was taken according to procedure," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Tuesday, April 21.

He explained that O.E. was a DPO based on Letter Number: DPO/S-34/04/IV/2024/Reskrim dated April 25, 2024 regarding the shooting case which resulted in the death of the Elang Task Force personnel, Sertu Anumerta Ismunandar, on March 17, 2024 in Kulirik Village, Muara District.

During the enforcement process, the perpetrator was shot and was evacuated to Mulia Hospital for medical treatment. However, the person concerned was declared dead at 17.30 WIT.

He emphasized that this step was part of efforts to enforce the law against perpetrators of armed violence who had disrupted security stability in the Puncak Jaya region.

"The perpetrator was given medical treatment, but was declared dead. This action is part of our commitment to maintaining security and prosecuting perpetrators of armed violence," he said.

Previously, O.E. was arrested on November 27, 2024 in the same case, but managed to escape when the police focused on handling conflicts in the area.
