BMKG Warns Heavy to Very Heavy Rain in Several Regions Today

JAKARTA - The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) reminded people to be aware of the potential for heavy to very heavy rain on Monday, April 20, covering a number of areas, namely Aceh, North Sumatra, Bangka Islands, Belitung, Bengkulu, West Java, Bali and West Nusa Tenggara.

BMKG weather practitioner Yuyun W said atmospheric dynamics also formed significant weather. Therefore, it is necessary to be aware of the potential for other weather.

For western Indonesia, said Yuyun, it is necessary to be aware that there is a potential for lightning in Tanjung Pinang, Padang, Palembang, Bandar Lampung and Banjarmasin.

In addition, he highlighted the potential for moderate rain in Bandung and the potential for light rain in Aceh, Medan Pekanbaru, Jambi, Pangkal Pinang, Bengkulu, Serang, Jakarta and most of Kalimantan.

"There is also the potential for thick clouds in Semarang, Yogyakarta and Surabaya," said Yuyun, quoted by Antara, Monday morning.

Meanwhile, he said, for eastern Indonesia, it was wary of the potential for lightning in Denpasar, moderate rain in Gorontalo, Mamuju, Nabire and Merauke.

He also added that there was the potential for light rain in Mataram, Kupang, Manado, Palu, Ternate and most of Papua. Potential heavy clouds in Makassar and Kendari and potential smoke or fog in Ambon.
