JAKARTA - PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) or KAI recorded a positive trend in passenger growth at the Pegaden Baru Station, after being quiet due to not serving long-distance train passengers.

In recent years, the atmosphere has changed. Now, the Pegaden Baru Station is back to being part of the community's activities, a place where people go and come home with various destinations.

Vice President of Corporate Communication of PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero), Anne Purba said that the positive trend was seen from the increase in the number of customers.

"We see the growing enthusiasm of the community. Pegaden Baru is again used as a departure and arrival point, in line with the increasingly diverse travel needs," Anne said in an official statement, Sunday, April 19.

Based on KAI data, the number of customers increased in the period January-March 2022 by 3,252 people, then increased to 8,488 in 2023, 12,430 in 2024, 12,847 in 2025, until reaching 16,110 customers in the first quarter of 2026.

Meanwhile, the decline in customers also showed a similar trend, from 3,146 people in 2022 to 8,422 in 2023, 12,612 in 2024, 14,142 in 2025, and reaching 16,063 customers in the first quarter of 2026.

According to Anne, this increase brings changes in people's daily lives. The increasingly close access to transportation makes residents no longer have to go to Haurgeulis Station or to Bandung City to make long-distance trips.

Currently, the Pegaden Baru Station serves various long-distance trains, including the Gunungjati Train, the Dharmawangsa Express Train, the Bengawan Train, the Airlangga Train, the South Night New Gaya Train, the Matarmaja Train, the Bangunkarta Train, the Brantas Train, to the Tawang Jaya Premium Train.

Furthermore, Anne also said that the increasing variety of travel options gives people flexibility.

"Traveling by train is now more easily accessible. People can adjust their travel plans, both for routine activities and weekend moments," said Anne.

According to Anne, as the only station serving passengers in Subang Regency, the role of Pegaden Baru is crucial. With a large area, the need for connected transportation access is increasingly important.

This connectivity also opens up opportunities for the development of regional potential. The Sari Ater area in the south offers mountain tourism, while Pondok Bali Beach in the north is an alternative coastal destination.

In addition, the existence of the Patimban Port also strengthens Subang's position as a developing region, with the movement of people and economic activities that are increasingly connected.

Anne emphasized that KAI will continue to develop services according to customer needs. "Input from customers is an important part of developing our services. With increasingly widespread connectivity, travel can be planned more easily and become part of community activities in various regions," he concluded.
