SUMEDANG - Padjadjaran University (Unpad) has temporarily deactivated a lecturer who is suspected of being involved in a sexual violence case on campus.
Unpad Rector Prof Arief Sjamsulaksan Kartasasmita emphasized that the campus does not tolerate any form of sexual violence and will follow up on each report seriously in accordance with applicable regulations.
"After receiving a complete report, on the same day Unpad immediately took firm action by disabling it. Unpad will consistently carry out the process of proving and punishing violence in accordance with laws and regulations, and prioritize the interests and safety of victims," he said in Sumedang, Antara, Thursday, April 16.
According to him, this step was taken after the campus received a complete report regarding the alleged case of sexual violence involving one of the professors.
In addition to deactivating the lecturer, Unpad also formed an investigation team to conduct an objective and thorough investigation involving the Sexual Violence Prevention and Management Task Force (Satgas PPKS) and elements of the Faculty Senate.
He said that the campus still prioritizes caution in the process of proving that it does not lead to the wrong decision, even though the victim is still given a bias.
He emphasized that if in the investigation process it was proven that there was a violation, Unpad would impose sanctions in accordance with applicable regulations and laws.
"Unpad will always pay close attention to the proof procedure through existing devices so as not to make a wrong decision, even though Unpad's point of view is to the victim," he said.
Unpad ensures that handling violence is not only carried out in this case, but also becomes part of a comprehensive effort to create a safe and conducive campus environment.
The campus also invites the entire community, including academic staff, to support efforts to prevent and handle violence in the university environment.
