JAKARTA - The Professional and Security Division (Propam) of the Metro Jaya Police is investigating allegations of violations by members of the Pasar Minggu Police regarding the handling of a missing person report that went viral on social media.

This case came to light through an Instagram account post that told the elderly named Warisem had been secured by the police, but was later released before being picked up by the family.

Head of Public Relations of the Metro Jaya Police, Kombes Pol Radjo Alriadi Harahap, said his party had started an examination of the members on duty.

"We have monitored and examined members who received reports from the public," he said, Tuesday, April 14, 2026.

Meanwhile, the Head of the Pasar Minggu Police, Kompol Anggiat Sinambela, confirmed that Warisem had returned to his family.

"He has been found and returned to his family," he said.

However, Anggiat has not explained in detail the reason why the members let Warisem go before being picked up by the family.

In the video that went viral, Warisem looked confused on the side of the road. A resident then asked his identity.

"What's your mother's name?" asked the residents.

"Mrs. Warisem," he replied.

When asked for the address of the house, Warisem admitted that he did not know for sure.

"I don't know, Kelapa Dua," he said hesitantly.

Until now, the police are still investigating the handling procedures carried out by the members related to the case.
