JAKARTA - The University of Indonesia (UI) ensures that the handling of verbal sexual violence in the environment of the UI Faculty of Law (FHUI) is comprehensive and managed in accordance with applicable regulations.

"The development of the situation in the campus environment is also the concern of the university, including the social dynamics that emerged in response to the case. UI ensures that this condition has been managed, so that it does not develop into a physical conflict," said the Director of Public Relations, Media, Government, and International Relations of UI. Erwin Agustian Panigoro reported by ANTARA, Tuesday, April 14.

Erwin ensured that his party had handled the case in the formal corridor since the victim submitted a report directly to the Task Force for the Prevention and Handling of Violence (PPK Task Force) accompanied by supporting evidence.

In addition, additional reports facilitated through student representatives are also part of the search materials that are thoroughly carried out to ensure accuracy of facts and fairness in decision-making.

In carrying out the investigation process, it is clear that the PPK UI Task Force works based on institutional mandates regulated through the Rector's Decree and the Regulation of the Rector of the University of Indonesia Number 37 of 2025 concerning the Prevention and Handling of Violence in the University of Indonesia Environment.

"This regulation has been drafted with reference to the Minister of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology Regulation Number 55 of 2024, so that all procedures carried out are in line with national standards," he said.

Erwin ensured that the ongoing handling included examination of the parties, deepening the chronology, verification of evidence, and preparation of recommendations by the PPK Task Force.

The recommendation will later become the basis for university leaders in making decisions, including the possibility of granting academic sanctions according to the level of proven violations.

Erwin also reiterated the approach used in handling this case is victim-centered, by ensuring the availability of psychological assistance, legal assistance, and academic support on an ongoing basis. The confidentiality of the victim's identity and related parties is also strictly maintained throughout the process.

In connection with this, UI appeals to all parties not to disseminate unverified information and avoid speculation that can interfere with the handling process.

"Wise public participation is very important in maintaining the integrity of the process and protecting all parties involved," said Erwin Agustian Panigoro.
