SUMENEP - The Sumenep Police (Polres) Police, East Java, is investigating the discovery of 23 packages suspected of being cocaine with a total weight of around 27.83 kilograms on the coast of Pasir Putih Beach, Kahuripan, Giligenting District.
"Currently we are still conducting intensive investigations to uncover the network behind the circulation of drugs on Giligenting Island which was found yesterday," said Sumenep Police Chief AKBP Anang Hardiyanto as reported by ANTARA, Tuesday, April 14.
The cocaine is now secured by the Sumenep Police Narcotics Unit and will be sent to the East Java Police Forensic Laboratory to determine the content of the substance in it.
Previously, residents of East Lombi Village, Gedugan Village, Giligenting District, Sumenep Regency, were surprised by the discovery of 23 suspicious packages on the coast of Pasir Putih Beach, Kahuripan, Monday (13/4) afternoon.
The findings were then reported by residents to the Giligenting Police before they were handed over to the Sumenep Police.
The Police Chief said that the discovery began with a report from the public who suspected that there were foreign objects around the beach location.
Following up on the report, members of the Giligenting Police immediately moved to the crime scene (TKP) at around 16.15 WIB and handed it over to the Sumenep Police.
The discovery of drugs on Giligenting Island, Sumenep, is the second time in the past year.
