JAKARTA - The lawyer for PT Temasra Jaya, Petrus Selestinus, confirmed that the land and building at Jalan Teuku Umar Number 2, Menteng, Central Jakarta, are the legitimate property of his client, not the Ministry of Defense or the Indonesian National Army.

"PT Temasra Jaya is the only legitimate owner of the land and building, so it is not the property of the state or the Ministry of Defense/TNI Headquarters," Petrus said in his statement, Sunday, April 12.

He explained that the status of land ownership had been strengthened with a Building Use Rights Certificate (SHGB) Number 1585/Gondangdia with an area of 2,975 square meters issued by the Ministry of ATR/BPN after the clearance process with the military in 2009-2010. Since then, he said, PT Temasra Jaya has legally owned the physical land.

However, Petrus said the takeover by the TNI/Kemenhan occurred since November 27, 2025 and was considered an illegal act. He also highlighted the activities of demolishing buildings without permits, such as destroying roofs, walls, and door and window frames.

"The demolition was carried out without the consent of the owner or permission from the relevant service, even though the building is in a cultural heritage area," he said.

His party admitted that he had twice sent a summons to the TNI Headquarters to withdraw personnel from the location and stop the activity. In fact, a special summons has also been sent to ask for the cessation of demolition and the restoration of the building's condition, but has not received a response.

Petrus also appreciated the steps of the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government which had issued a letter to stop the demolition activities on March 17, 2026. However, he assessed that there were still activities at the location, including the installation of project boards and light steel roof frames which were suspected to be without permits.

"This is suspected to be a form of defiance against the law because there has been an official warning from the DKI Provincial Government," he said.

On that basis, PT Temasra Jaya plans to report the alleged encroachment and destruction of assets to the TNI Military Police Center for criminal prosecution.

"We call on all parties to stop arbitrary actions and obey the law, because Indonesia is a state of law," concluded Petrus.
