BOGOR - The Bogor City Government (Pemkot) has prepared a budget of Rp. 12 billion to encourage street vendors (PKL) to upgrade to official traders in the market through a light financing scheme.

Bogor Mayor Dedie A. Rachim said this program was carried out together with Bank BJB through access to the People's Business Credit (KUR) which is intended for street vendors who are relocated to the market.

"For almost a month, we have been intensively arranging. We want PKL to rise in degree and dignity, to be part of the empowerment of the people's economy," said Dedie at the Bogor City Hall, Sunday, April 12.

Of the total budget, Rp9 billion was allocated specifically to support the relocation and financing of traders at Jambu Dua Market, with various access to capital facilities.

Head of the Bogor Branch of Bank BJB, Heru Baharudin, explained that the KUR scheme in this program provides relief for traders, including a down payment (DP) of only 10 percent and an interest rate of around 6 percent per year.

"The loan ceiling can reach Rp. 500 million after passing the verification of the SIKP of the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs," he said.

The Bogor City Government targets street vendors who have been selling in unofficial locations to switch to markets such as Jambu Dua Market and Gembrong Sukasari, so that economic activities are more organized.

On the other hand, the government together with Forkopimda continues to enforce discipline against street vendors who are still selling in illegal locations. Dedie emphasized that in the future, trading activities must be carried out in the places that have been provided.

"Times have changed. Business activities are no longer in illegal places, but must enter the market," he said.
