President Prabowo Subianto Attended the Opening of the XVI IPSI PB National Congress 2026

JAKARTA - President Prabowo Subianto, who is also the Chairman of the General Board of the Indonesian Pencak Silat Association (PB IPSI), attended the opening of the XVI National Congress (Munas) of the PB IPSI 2026 at the JCC Senayan, Jakarta, Saturday.

Based on ANTARA's monitoring at the location, Prabowo arrived at 13.30 WIB, wearing a black shirt, black turban, and a sembong cloth with a golden and maroon color.

Prabowo's arrival was greeted by the Deputy Chairman of the General Assembly of the PB IPSI who is also the Minister of Foreign Affairs Sugiono and the Minister of Youth and Sports Erick Thohir.

The IPSI 2026 XVI Congress will be held on April 10-11, 2026 in Jakarta, with the main agenda being the election of the general chairman of the PB IPSI for the period 2026-2030.

In addition, the Congress also encouraged pencak silat to be competed in the 2028 Olympics which will take place in Los Angeles, USA.

The event was also attended by a number of officials, including the Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Technology Brian Yuliarto, the Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi, the TNI Commander General TNI Agus Subiyanto, the National Police Chief General Pol Listyo Sigit Prabowo, the Chief of Staff of the TNI Army (KSAD) General TNI Maruli Simanjuntak, and the Head of the Government Communication Agency Angga Raka Prabowo.

The event was also attended by IPSI managers from various regions, representatives of pencak silat schools, and a number of figures who have played a role in the development of pencak silat in Indonesia.

Previously, Sugiono said the XVI IPSI National Congress was a strategic momentum for the organization to formulate policy directions and work programs in the future.

Through this forum, the managers are expected to formulate concrete steps in strengthening the athlete training system, improving the quality of competition, and maintaining the preservation of the noble values of pencak silat in the midst of the development of modern sports.

Prabowo Subianto is recorded as having led the PB IPSI for five periods from 2004 to 2025. In addition to his position at the national level, he also served as President of the World Pencak Silat Federation (Persilat) since 2010 and was re-elected at the 2022 Congress.
