PAMEKASAN - The Pamekasan Police, East Java, finally managed to uncover the perpetrator of the rape of a disabled woman from Palengaan Village through a DNA (Deoxyribonucleic Acid) test.

"DNA testing was carried out, because the victim of rape suffered from mental disorders and could not mention who the perpetrator was," said Head of Operations (KBO) of the Criminal Investigation Unit of Pamekasan Police, Iptu Herman Jayadi, as reported by ANTARA, Wednesday, April 8.

The victim of rape who became pregnant was initials H (41). This case was reported to the Pamekasan Police by the victim's family on January 6, 2026.

According to Herman, this incident began when the victim's family found H's sister pregnant and on December 28, 2025, the victim gave birth to a baby of the female gender and the perpetrator was allegedly her own brother-in-law.

Considering the condition of the victim who has mental disorders, investigators face obstacles because the victim cannot provide information directly.

"To make this case clear, investigators provided psychological assistance to the victim and underwent a scientific procedure in the form of a paternity DNA test through the Criminal Laboratory of Bid Dokkes Polda Jatim," said Herman.

Based on the test results, a match of 99.9 percent was found stating that the man with the initials AS (50) was the biological father of the child born by the victim.

Based on this strong evidence, on April 6, 2026, investigators officially named AS as a suspect through a letter of determination number S.TAP/48/IV/RES.1.4/SATRESKRIM.

"Currently, the suspect AS has been detained at the Pamekasan Police Detention Center to undergo further investigation. However, the suspect stated that he was willing and able to cooperate with investigators and trials if needed," he said.

For his actions, the suspect was charged with Article 473 paragraph (1) and paragraph (2) letter d of Law Number 1 of 2023 concerning the Criminal Code.

The suspect is threatened with a maximum sentence of 15 years in prison for committing violence or threats of violence to force intercourse against a person with disabilities.
