President Prabowo Subianto has ordered a quick evaluation of hundreds of mining business permits or IUP which he considers unclear, especially those in protected forests and forest areas.

The order was delivered openly at the State Palace, Wednesday, April 8, with a non-strict deadline of one week.

In front of the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, the Minister of Forestry, and high-ranking government officials, Prabowo said the country did not have time to let problematic permits continue to hang.

"I have ordered the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, there are hundreds of mines that are unclear or IUP is unclear in protected forests and forests," said Prabowo.

He emphasized that if the results of the evaluation show that the permits are not in order, then everything must be revoked.

"If it is not clear, withdraw all of it IUP, withdraw all of it," he said.

When asked for a report, Prabowo immediately rejected the two-week deadline. He ordered the evaluation results to be submitted within one week.

"Evaluation immediately... one week yes," he said.

For Prabowo, this step is not merely an administrative matter. He emphasized that the government must defend the national and people's interests, not the interests of friends, families, or certain groups.

This order is a signal from the palace, mining permits in sensitive areas are now on the radar of the Palace. What is not clear is that they are asked to leave.
