Vice President Gibran Arrives in Manado, to Inspect the Affected Earthquake Location

MANADO - Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka arrived in Manado, North Sulawesi, Monday night, to review several locations affected by the 7.6 magnitude earthquake that occurred on April 2.

Head of the North Sulawesi Provincial Government Leadership Administration Bureau, Christian Iroth, said Vice President Gibran arrived at Sam Ratulangi Airport, Manado, at around 19.00 WITA.

The Vice President was directly greeted by the North Sulawesi Governor Yulius Selvanus, Deputy Governor Victor Mailangkay, and the ranks of the Regional Leadership Coordination Forum (Forkopimda).

"There are a number of agendas that will be carried out by Vice President Gibran starting from Tuesday (7/4) morning until noon before departing to Jakarta," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Monday, April 6.

The visit of Vice President Gibran was preceded by seeing the condition of the KONI Sario Manado building, where the west side collapsed due to the earthquake.

The next agenda was to visit the family of the deceased victim Deitje Lahia after being hit by the debris of the KONI Sario building.

Vice President Gibranselanjutnya visited the Holy Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in Rumengkor Village, Minahasa Regency, to see the condition of the damaged buildings affected by the earthquake and visited the city of Bitung where the area is very close to the earthquake epicenter.

The Catholic Church of Our Lady of the Holy Heart of Jesus in Rumengkor, the ceiling fell and there were cracks in the walls and was visited by the Head of the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB), Lieutenant General TNI Suharyanto last weekend.

Christian said that after a series of visits on Tuesday, the Vice President immediately returned to Jakarta in the afternoon.

Previously, BMKG data stated that the epicenter of the earthquake was located at coordinates 1.25 degrees LU and 126.27 degrees BT or about 129 km southeast of Bitung, North Sulawesi, with a depth of 33 km.

The earthquake shock was felt in the Manado area with an intensity of IV-V MMI, where the vibration was felt by the entire community.
