Bromo Area Closed until April 12 to Restore Ecosystem

JAKARTA - The Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park (TNBTS) stated that the closure of the Bromo Mountain area from tourist activities on April 6-12, 2026 as an effort to restore the ecosystem to improve the quality of tourism services.

"Yes, Bromo is closed on April 6 starting at 06.00 WIB until April 12 at 10.00 WIB. In the next week, we are preparing various steps as a momentum for the recovery of the ecosystem, as well as improving the quality of tourism services," said Public Relations Officer of the TNBTS Head Office Endrip Wahyutama as reported by ANTARA, Monday, April 6.

The TNBTS Headquarters stated that the closure of the Bromo Mountain area was a reinforcement of the commitment to more sustainable management of the area after the long Lebaran 2026 holiday.

During the Lebaran holiday, namely on March 21-24, 2026, Mount Bromo has been visited by 24,671 tourists.

Cumulatively in March 2026, tourism destinations that stretch from the Probolinggo Regency, Pasuruan, Lumajang, and Malang Regency are in line for 79,223 tourists.

The number of tourist visits in March was higher than the January and February 2026 periods.

"Total tourist visits in January were 65,891 tourists. Meanwhile, in February there were 45,738 tourists," he said.

During the closing schedule, the main hall will carry out activities to clean the area after the long holiday and socialization of the Tengger Caldera Ring Road (JLKT) on April 6, 2026.

On April 7 and April 9, 2026, training was held for jeep and horse transportation service providers in the Probolinggo Regency area, East Java.

Then on April 8, the TNBTS Headquarters held capacity building for tourism and transportation service providers in the Malang Regency area and social service activities.

Then, on April 13, 2026, the main hall held a ground-breaking arrangement of the JLKT.

Endrip hopes that a number of these steps will be able to provide benefits for the ecosystem and the people living around the Bromo Mountain area.

"So that in the future Bromo will remain sustainable and provide sustainable benefits for all," said Endrip.
