KUPANG - Vice President (Wapres) Gibran Rakabuming Raka inspected the new building of the Kaniti Inpres Elementary School (SDI) in East Penfui Village, Kupang Regency, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT).
The review of the school is part of a series of working visits to Kupang City and Kupang Regency, NTT, on Monday, April 6.
"I visited this school last year, the floor was still made of soil and the roof was hollow. Today the building has been newly built and is good. Hopefully in the future children will be more diligent and enthusiastic about studying at school," said Vice President Gibran as reported by ANTARA.
This visit was the second, after previously on May 7, 2025, Vice President Gibran also visited the school to hand over educational equipment assistance to 389 students and received a proposal for the rehabilitation of the school building.
Upon arrival at the Kaniti SDI yard, Vice President Gibran, who arrived with the Governor of NTT Melki Laka Lena, was greeted by hundreds of school students and local people.
The Vice President immediately visited the classroom and held a question and answer session with teachers and local government officials.
The building was built/rehabilitated by the Education Unit Development Committee (P2SP) through the Education Unit Revitalization Program with government assistance funds of Rp. 2,042,283,609 in the 2025 budget year and its construction was completed on October 1, 2025.
The unit of assistance consists of eleven rehab classrooms, three new classrooms, one administrative room, one mes/teacher dormitory unit, one toilet unit.
After conducting a direct review in the classroom, Vice President Gibran greeted the students and distributed stationery, as well as taking a group photo on the school grounds.
In the observation of ANTARA, the students were very enthusiastic with the visit even though the school was still in the atmosphere of the Easter holiday.
One of the students named Ervin Natasha Namah from Class 5B SDI Kaniti who also received a learning tool package from Vice President Gibra said he was very happy about the Vice President's visit to the school.
"I am happy to get a stationery package. I am also very happy to meet Mr. Gibran. We are also happy with the new classroom building," he said.
