Cianjur SAR Team Searches for Children Lost in River Flow

JAKARTA - The Cianjur SAR team, West Java, together with joint officers are searching for a boy M (9) who was reported missing when he was carried away by the current while swimming in a river in Ciharashas Village, Cilaku District, Sunday.

The head of the Cianjur SAR, Andika Zein in Cianjur, Sunday, said his party immediately sent officers to search for the boy who was reported missing by the current after receiving a report from the community.

The search involved joint officers consisting of TNI/Polri, BPBD Cianjur, Damkar Cianjur, PMI Cianjur and volunteers, to conduct a quick search by conducting middle and edge of the river.

"Currently the search is underway, where the team is divided into several groups to carry out a quick search for a 9-year-old boy who was swept away by the current while swimming with his friends," he said.

He explained that the information obtained, the victim M together with his four friends Rz, Rh, HK, and E, were swimming in the river, but suddenly a strong current came suddenly, his four friends managed to survive while the victim's body was dragged by the current.

Upon finding this, the surrounding residents who received the news tried to search and report the incident to the Cilaku Police and continued to the Cianjur SAR Office, which immediately sent officers to the location.

The search involving joint officers was expanded to several kilometers because it was suspected that the victim's body had been dragged quite far seeing the fairly strong water discharge along the river.

"We hope that the search will yield results quickly, so that the victim's body can be evacuated immediately, we also involve volunteers in a number of villages that are crossed by the river for search and surveillance," he said.

As extreme weather still hit most of Cianjur, his party asked residents to increase their preparedness and vigilance and increase supervision of children so that they do not play in the river.
