BPBD Tulungagung, East Java, is handling two landslide points in Kradinan Village, Pagerwojo District, which occurred after heavy rain on Thursday (2/4).
Head of Emergency and Logistics of BPBD Tulungagung Teguh Abianto, in Tulungagung, Friday, said officers immediately carried out assessments, cleaning materials, and mitigation steps to prevent subsequent landslides.
"Officers and residents have cleaned up the landslide material and handled the affected area," he said.
The first landslide occurred on the slope of the uruk soil disposal of the Red and White Village/Village Cooperative (KDKMP) in Krajan Village with a length of about 100 meters and a width of 50 meters. This location does not affect the settlement of residents.
Meanwhile, the second landslide occurred on a cliff about 15 meters high which hit Sugiono's house, causing the house wall to be broken open along about 4 meters with a height of 2.5 meters.
BPBD ensured that there were no casualties in the incident because the house residents had managed to save themselves.
According to Teguh, heavy rain with high intensity and unstable soil conditions are the main triggers for landslides in the area.
As a follow-up handling step, officers installed tarpaulins on the uruk soil disposal cliff to reduce water infiltration and prevent subsequent landslides.
"We put tarps to hold water so that it does not trigger a subsequent landslide that could potentially endanger residents," he said.
BPBD urges the public to remain vigilant against the potential for landslides, especially when it rains with high intensity.
