DPR asks Kejaksaan to evaluate the Karo Buntut Attorney General's Office in the Amsal Sitepu case in its entirety.

JAKARTA - Commission III of the DPR has asked the Deputy Attorney General for Supervision or Jamwas of the Attorney General's Office to thoroughly evaluate the ranks of the Karo District Attorney's Office which handles the Amsal Christy Sitepu case.

"And submit a written report on the results of the evaluation to Commission III of the DPR RI within one month," said Chairman of Commission III of the DPR RI Habiburokhman who read the conclusions of the meeting with the Karo District Attorney and Amsal Sitepu as reported by ANTARA, Thursday, April 2.

In addition, he asked law enforcement officials to thoroughly investigate the intimidation experienced by Amsal, which was allegedly carried out by the Public Prosecutor (JPU) on behalf of Wira Arizona, Head of the Special Criminal Section Reinhard Harve Sembiring, and Head of the Intelligence Section Dona Martinus Sebayang.

The Attorney General's Office was also asked to investigate the alleged violation of the Karo District Attorney's office, namely not implementing the determination of the Medan District Court's panel of judges regarding the suspension of detention and instead building propaganda as if the Commission III of the DPR RI was intervening in the legal process of the case.

"Commission III of the DPR RI asks the Indonesian Attorney General's Commission to conduct an examination of the case of Amsal Christy Sitepu as material for a thorough evaluation of the performance of the prosecutor's office," he said.

On the other hand, he also emphasized that the acquittal of the Amsal Sitepu case could not be carried out through legal efforts, both appeal and cassation, in accordance with the spirit of the provisions of the new Criminal Procedure Code (KUHAP).

Meanwhile, Amsal Sitepu thanked the DPR Commission III for fighting for justice for him.

He said the conclusion of the DPR Commission III meeting was very reassuring because previously he was also worried if the acquittal was appealed or cassation.

"I can't stop thanking the Commission III of the DPR RI, especially from the five conclusions," said Amsal.
