BGN Boss Clarifies Viral MBG Milk Sold at Minimarket

JAKARTA - The National Nutrition Agency (BGN) provided clarification regarding information on the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) program milk that is sold in minimarkets and is widely discussed on social media.

Head of BGN, Dadan Hindayana, emphasized that his party had not signed any contracts and was not committed to any producer regarding the sale and purchase of MBG milk products.

"BGN has never made a contract and committed to any producer. So, if there is a producer who is for marketing, then makes a school milk writing, I think it is the effort of the person concerned," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Thursday, April 2.

Dadan explained that based on the applicable standard operating procedures (SOP), all Nutrition Fulfillment Service Units (SPPG) are required to buy MBG milk for beneficiaries at a minimum market or UMKM to empower local farmers.

"All SPPG buy at supermarkets or MSMEs, there is none, for example, we give certain producers, this is what we buy (milk), so, maybe there are producers who try to make (their products) sell, then sold in the market," he said.

Meanwhile, Deputy Head of BGN, Nanik Sudaryati Deyang, when met at the same location, confirmed that BGN had never produced milk in any form, let alone in the name of the MBG Program.

"We MBG never had or made milk, no, no. There has never been. BGN has never made milk, yes," said Nanik.

Therefore, Nanik asked the public who found milk or other products to be sold at minimarket or anywhere that uses the name BGN or MBG Program to immediately report to the call center or BGN complaint service at number 127.

Previously, netizens were discussing the "school milk" product which was claimed to be special for the MBG program being sold in minimarkets. Netizens shared photos of products sold in minimarkets, even though the label read "Free Milk MBG Program, not for sale". The 125 ml packaged milk was observed to be sold at a price of around IDR 4,000 per package or IDR 138,000 per box.
