US Military Reportedly Submits Plan to Take Uranium from Iran

JAKARTA - The Pentagon is reported to have submitted a plan to take enriched uranium nuclear material belonging to Iran to President Donald Trump.

The Washington Post quoted a source as saying the plan was presented last week at Trump's request.

The plan would require a complex, high-risk, and time-consuming operation, such as deploying hundreds to thousands of troops and heavy equipment by air to extract the radioactive material - something that has never been done before.

"You have to get the excavation equipment, break through the concrete and lead shielding... and then somehow reach the basement, remove the container containing the nuclear material, and fly it out," one of the anonymous sources who knows the matter told The Washington Post.

In an interview with CBS on Tuesday, Trump refused to answer whether he would declare victory in the operation against Iran without removing enriched uranium reserves.

Trump said he didn't even think about it, adding the uranium was "buried very deep" and "would be very difficult for anybody."

Last year, exactly on the night of June 13, Israel attacked Iran with the accusation, Tehran was running a secret military nuclear program. Iran denied the accusation and retaliated with an attack.

The two sides launched a 12-day offensive. The United States carried out a single attack on Iran's nuclear facilities on the night of June 22, which Tehran responded to by firing missiles at the US Al Udeid base in Qatar the next day.

Then on June 23, Trump announced that Israel and Iran had reached a ceasefire to end the "12-day war."

Then on February 28, 2026, the United States and Israel launched an attack on a number of targets in Iran, including in Tehran, which caused damage and civilian casualties.

Iran then retaliated by attacking Israeli territory as well as US military facilities in the Middle East.
