National Feast, Prabowo Praises Strategic Relations between Indonesia and Korea

JAKARTA - President Prabowo Subianto said that the bilateral meeting between the leaders of Indonesia and the Republic of Korea has produced productive and strategic achievements for the relationship between Indonesia and the Republic of Korea.

This was conveyed by Prabowo at a state luncheon hosted by the President of the Republic of Korea Lee Jae Myung as a form of respect for the Indonesian leader at the Presidential Palace of the Republic of Korea, Cheong Wa Dae (Blue House), Seoul, Wednesday, April 1.

"The improvement of our bilateral relations into a special comprehensive strategic partnership, along with the signing of several important agreements, reflects the deep trust and shared vision that binds our two countries," said Prabowo in a statement from the BPMI Secretariat of the President in Jakarta, Wednesday.

Prabowo conveyed his belief that the increase in partnerships and a number of agreements reached would provide real and sustainable benefits for both countries.

The Head of State also highlighted the similarities in the historical journey between Indonesia and the Republic of Korea, which both fought hard to gain independence and build the nation.

"We have a lot of similarities in history and common interests. Both of our countries had to fight very hard for independence. The Republic of Korea has succeeded very well in becoming a very advanced industrial country," said Prabowo.

Prabowo also expressed his admiration for South Korea's achievements, especially in terms of industrial progress and the work ethic of its people.

President Prabowo even quoted a Korean proverb, "Together we go far" [hamkke gamyeon meolli ganda] as a reflection of the spirit of togetherness in strengthening cooperation between the two countries.

"We admire your achievements. We admire your discipline, your hard work, and your desire to always overcome challenges. I understand there is a famous Korean saying that goes like this, together we go far. If we go together, (we) will go far," said the President.

This state luncheon is not only a symbol of diplomatic honor, but also strengthens the commitment of both countries in building a mutually beneficial and future-oriented strategic partnership.
