Kontras Disappointed with the Case of Water Spraying on Andrie Yunus Was Handled to the TNI Puspom

JAKARTA - The Coordinator of the Kontras Workers Agency, Dimas Bagus Arya, regretted that the case of pouring hard water on Andrie Yunus was now handed over to the TNI Military Police Center (Puspom). Therefore, Kontras asked Commission III of the DPR to also handle and monitor the completion of the case.

This was conveyed by Dimas in the RDP and RDPU of Commission III of the DPR with the Metro Jaya Police Chief and Andrie Yunus' lawyer at the DPR building, Senayan, Jakarta, Tuesday, March 31.

"We have also hoped from the beginning that there will be firmness from Commission III to be able to determine its jurisdictional forum or forum for completing the case," said Dimas.

According to Dimas, this case should have been resolved through the general court. Because the incident occurred in the civil sphere.

"We have an argument that this case is more appropriate to be brought to a public court forum with all kinds of arguments that can later be assisted by my friends, my colleagues in the Advocacy for Democracy team," he said.

Therefore, Dimas was disappointed with the steps of the Metro Jaya Police who entrusted this case to the TNI Puspom. He was worried that the completion of this case would not be fair and transparent considering that the four perpetrators were TNI members.

"I am quite disappointed with what the Director of General Criminal Investigation said, this case has been transferred to Puspom, although in the formal legal procedure there is not a single new article in the KUHAP that can transfer investigators who are not from the PPSN. So later we can dialogue about it," he said.

"But what is clear is that this process seems slow. Why? Because since the TNI POM identified the 4 suspected perpetrators on Thursday, March 19, there has been no release of the faces or identities of the perpetrators. What we are worried about is that there is a gap in the manipulation of law enforcement. That's the first," continued Dimas.

Second, he continued, Kontras has sent SP2HP in response to the SPDP that was issued by the Police last week. At that time, his party still had one belief that the police had ethics to continue this case using the basis of argument in the criminal procedure law book.

"So there are things that we emphasize, the recommendations that we ask for last, maybe the leadership and also the members of the DPR, whom I respect, we ask in this forum to discuss how the members of the Council, members of Commission III can also ask or ask the police as far as what, how much evidence has been submitted or collected by the police, especially Krimum, Polda Metro Jaya related to this case," he said.

"Because from the beginning, as I said earlier, the Director of General Crime of the Polda Metro Jaya has been escorting since the first day this case occurred," added Dimas.
