JAKARTA - The Russian Cultural Center, the Russian House, in Prague was attacked by a Molotov bomb on Thursday (27/3) due to its high activity and often holding events.

The Russian Embassy in the Czech Republic said a number of unidentified people attacked the Russian House building on Thursday night using six Molotov cocktails.

Three bombs exploded outside and damaged the facade of the building; while others were thrown into the library on the second floor, where none exploded. The Prague police are investigating the attack and are looking for the perpetrators.

"The attack on the Russian cultural center last night was the result of our increased activity in the Czech Republic," Russian House Director Igor Girenko told RIA Novosti, quoted by ANTARA, Friday, March 27.

Russian House regularly hosts many events, at least two events every week.

"We are still presenting our active social media. We have launched three Telegram channels in Czech, Russian, and English. The number of subscribers continues to grow," said Girenko.

The cultural center has not decided whether to cancel the event, which is scheduled to take place on Friday as part of Russian Culture Day in the Czech Republic.

"We are also considering the security aspect for our guests, spectators, and staff," he said.

Girenko did not rule out the possibility that some "marginalized haters" might claim responsibility for the attack.
