JAKARTA - The National Nutrition Agency (BGN) has frozen the operations of the Nutrition Fulfillment Service Unit (SPPG) 02 Siriwini in Nabire Regency, Central Papua because it uses a Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) distribution car to transport garbage.
BGN Nabire Regional Coordinator Marsel Asyerem said BGN stated that the SPPG had violated the use of operational vehicles that were not in accordance with SOP.
"BGNPusat has sent a letter to us in the region to temporarily stop operations as a follow-up to the report," he said, quoted by ANTARA, Friday, March 27.
He said that the violation of the SOP was known after his party received a report from the Nabire Environmental Service (DLH) which was included in the Nabire MBG Acceleration Task Force which found a MBG boxcar to transport and dispose of garbage.
Responding to the report, BGN Nabire forwarded the report to the BGN Center for follow-up.
After receiving the report, the Central BGNPusat then decided to temporarily suspend the operation of SPPG 02 Siriwini.
"The Central BGN has imposed a temporary suspension sanction because the kitchen has violated the established standard operating procedures," he said.
Marsel emphasized that the MBG box car provided for food distribution operations should not be used for other purposes, including transporting garbage.
"This operational vehicle, although provided by a partner, is rented by BGN to distribute MBG food, so it must be used in accordance with the provisions and comply with SOP," he said.
He added that the suspension of operations would last until the evaluation and investigation process was completed. The kitchen management was also required to make a letter of commitment to not repeat similar violations.
"There must be a statement from the head of the SPPG that in the future they will not use box cars for other purposes and will comply with all applicable SOPs," he said.
