Bali - The Bali Regional Police has revealed the perpetrator of the rape of a Chinese citizen who returned from a bar at night in Labuansait, South Kuta District, Badung Regency, Bali.
Director of Criminal Investigation of the Bali Police, Kombes I Gede Adhi Muliawarman, said the SAM perpetrator (23) was arrested by investigators at the victim's lodging when he was about to return the victim's cellphone which he took after committing rape on Monday (23/3) evening.
"When the perpetrator returned to the victim's villa, he confessed that he wanted to return the victim's cellphone. There we were waiting with the identification of the vehicle used, so we immediately ambushed," said Adhi.
Adi said the case was handled based on Police Report Number LP/B/264/III/2026/SPKT/Polda Bali dated March 24, 2026.
The victim is known as RF, a Chinese woman who is temporarily staying at Wingsu Guest House, Jalan Pantai Berawa, Tibubeneng, North Kuta, Badung.
The victim initially enjoyed entertainment at a bar in South Kuta on Monday, March 23, 2026. Around 04.30 Wita, the victim left the bar in an alcohol-affected state.
The victim then allegedly used an ojek service, but was not able to realize whether it was through an application or a conventional ojek.
On the way, the victim realized that the driver was not heading to his lodging, but rather to a quiet area filled with trees around the Labuan Sait area, Pecatu.
At the location, the perpetrator stopped the vehicle and forced the victim into the grass area, then allegedly committed sexual violence until a forced sexual relationship occurred.
After the incident, the victim asked to be taken back to the place where he was staying at the Wingsu Guest House. The perpetrator agreed to the request and asked to borrow the victim's iPhone 14 mobile phone for directions.
Upon arrival at the lodging, the victim gave the perpetrator Rp150 thousand and told him to leave because he was afraid. The perpetrator immediately left while carrying the victim's cellphone.
As a result of the incident, the victim suffered trauma, fear, and lost valuable items, then reported the incident to the Bali Police.
For his actions, the perpetrator was charged with the crime of rape and/or physical sexual harassment as referred to in Article 473 of Law Number 1 of 2023 concerning the Criminal Code.
The perpetrator is now being named a suspect and is being held at the Bali Police Detention Center for further investigation.
