Rob Flooded, City Government Requests Protocol Route in Jakut to Continue to Function

JAKARTA - The Deputy Mayor (Wawalkot) of North Jakarta, Fredy Setiawan, asked that all protocol routes in his area remain functional even though there was a flash flood or coastal flooding predicted by the BMKG to occur in April 2026.

"We ask that the protocol routes remain optimally functional during high tides and flooding due to heavy rain," said Fredy Setiawan in Jakarta, quoted by Antara, Thursday.

He emphasized that the main road access should not be disturbed due to waterlogging caused by flash floods or heavy rains in the local area.

"Anticipating the protocol route is very important. Don't let the main access be paralyzed because it is flooded," said Fredy.

He asked the relevant officers to ensure that the prevention measures on the route were effective. "The ranks of the sub-district and sub-district to actively dismantle obstacles in water channels that have the potential to cause blockages," he said.

This effort is considered important to facilitate the flow of water when there is an increase in discharge. Thus, it is hoped that it will be able to minimize the social and economic impact on the people of North Jakarta who have long been affected by rob.

"Let's be ready to face extreme weather conditions," he said.

Fredy instructed all levels of the Regional Apparatus Organization (OPD) to carry out real actions and accelerate the synchronization of disaster data.

He plans to conduct a field visit on March 30-31, 2026 to review various mitigation efforts that have been carried out.

"Immediately schedule a visit to see the prevention action first hand, starting from the readiness of rubber boats to the progress of mitigation embankments and channel cleaning, such as in the RE Martadinata, Penjaringan, to Muara Karang areas," he said.

Previously, the North Jakarta Water Resources (SDA) Sub-Department mapped a number of locations in the local city that were prone to being affected by flash floods or coastal flooding.

"To anticipate the potential of the rob, various strategic steps have been prepared," said Head of the Maintenance Section of the Drainage Sub-Department of Water Resources (SDA) North Jakarta, Yudo Widiatmoko in Jakarta, Thursday.

He explained that the efforts undertaken included the construction and raising of embankments and dredging of river mud. Then install emergency embankments at a number of points, as well as operate water pumps in various vulnerable locations.

His party has also deployed 150 Blue Force personnel, 20 floating pumps, 16 mobile pumps, and eight pump stations complete with operators to suck water when flooding occurs.
